Client Acknowledgement & Investment Risk Disclosure Statement

1.     The Client Acknowledgement

The Client has appointed Tiger Brokers (NZ) Ltd (“TBNZ”) as the Client’s broker & custodian (agent) for the purpose of supporting the Client to invest and trade in financial products (including shares, stocks, options and futures) (“Financial Products”) in accordance with the terms of TBNZ’s Client Services Agreement.  TBNZ’s services are also subject to the terms of the following Investment Risk Disclosure Statement and other TBNZ risk disclosures including the “Disclosure of Risks of Margin Trading” (where TBNZ provides margin lending services to the Client). TBNZ strongly recommends that Clients read and take into account all such risk disclosures.

2.     Investment Risk Disclosure Statement

All investment involves risk, which in a financial context can be defined as the uncertainty of return and the possibility of sustaining a loss or reduction in value of investments. Consequently, there is a risk of loss in investing and trading in Financial Products. The Client should therefore carefully consider whether that kind of investing and trading is appropriate for them in the light of their personal and financial circumstances, and their goals. In deciding whether or not they will become involved in investing and trading in Financial Products, the Client should be aware of the following matters:

(a)  The price and value of, and income derived from, investments can vary. Prices & values, and income from investments, can go up or down, depending upon various market, economic and investment-specific matters. Therefore it is possible that an investor may receive back less than their initial investment.

(b)  Liquidity of Financial Products may also fluctuate, resulting in situation where an investor may not be able to buy or sell a Financial Product when the investor wants to or for their preferred price, including when market turnover volume drops. Under certain conditions, it could become difficult or impossible for the Client to sell a Financial Product or liquidate a position in a Financial Product (this can, for example, happen when there is a significant change in prices over a short period), which could cause the Client to incur losses.

(c)   If an investment in a Financial Product is carried out in a foreign currency, the return or performance of this transaction depends heavily on the changes of the exchange rate of the foreign currency in relation to the base currency of the investor. Investors only investing in their own country’s currency are not subject to this risk.

(d)    TBNZ does not provide investment, financial, tax or trading advice. TBNZ’s provision of services to the Client is not a recommendation for the Client to invest or trade in Financial Products. Clients should refer to their preferred financial advisor before making any investment and trading decisions and should make themselves aware of the risks associated with the type of investments they plan to make.

This statement does not disclose all of the risks and other significant aspects involved in trading and investing in Financial Products and in using the services of TBNZ. The Client should therefore study trading and investing in Financial Products and take advice relevant to their trading experience and ambition before becoming involved.
